Tabletop Designer & Player [2019]
A tool for designing & playing D&D-like tabletop games.
About The Tool
The Tabletop Designer & Player is a tool created in Unity which enables a Game Master to design levels for a tabletop campaign, and play the levels with the campaign’s players.
The tool includes a fully-featured level editor, tools for gameplay such as revealing characters / objects, and supports multi-screen functionality for the Game Master’s screen and the players’ screen.
The project was custom-made by me for the Mammoth Tales D&D live-stream show, and its development was guided by the show’s requirements.
Construction Demo
The above video demonstrates how the user can quickly & easily construct 3D levels which can be directly played for a campaign.
The tool’s systems includes many object slots per block, most often being slots which are external on the block, such as walls, and internal on the block, such as lanterns which are attached to the inside of those walls.
Horizontal Snapping & Free Objects
The above video demonstrates one of the tool’s features, which aims to seamlessly assist the user in creating levels.
When the user is placing intra-block objects, the objects will automatically snap to the block’s elements such as walls.
The video also demonstrates how the user can convert any block-object to be a free object, and position it however they see fit.
