Point Nemo [2021]

A group project made during the 2.5-day Global Game Jam [2021].


 

Gameplay Demonstration

Point Nemo is a singleplayer Unity game, where the player must pilot their submarine through a dangerous deep-sea cave. The submarine features a Pilot Terminal, a Weapons Terminal, and a Lights Terminal, each of which the player can enter to control the respective functions of the submarine.

Seamonster Encounters

Throughout their journey, the player will encounter a savage creature. During this encounter, the sea monster will swim back & forth past the submarine, and if the player fails to scare it away using the submarine’s turret, the sea monster will attack the submarine, triggering the game’s fail-state.

Game Jam Experience

The experience of making an end-to-end-playable game within the 2.5-day timeframe was fast-paced and required good group communication & organisation.

My responsibilities during this project was executing all the gameplay programming for the game. Given the timeframe, this required some forethought, as the designers were creating the level while I was creating the gameplay, and it was not possible to test the gameplay functionality against the level design until the very end of the project.
