Design Demonstration
The Non-Linear Conversation Designer is a tool made as a Unity project which enables the user to quickly & easily design in-game conversations, and export the conversation as game asset.
This project is currently in development, and will undergo many planned improvements to the system.
Implementation Demonstration
The conversation, exported from the designer, can then be directly imported as an asset into a game environment. The clip above demonstrates how the non-linear conversation can be experienced by the player.
Open-Ended Functionality
As someone who grew up with a passion for BioWare’s non-linear conversations, it is exciting that my conversation system can be expanded in any functional direction.
Opportunities for expansion include triggering certain character animations with each slot, or setting character influences as a result of the player’s decision. Depending on the game in which this is being implemented, the tangential functionality could be expanded into any avenue.
